Regent Reel Dreams Film Competition Offers Scholarship
Now underway, Regent University's Reel Dreams Film Competition is designed to empower aspiring film artists to use their talents and abilities to bring creative films to the entertainment industry. Its aim is to reveal and focus attention on works of quality from independent filmmakers to contribute to the growth and recognition of young artists and to feature positive messages that transform the minds of audiences worldwide.
During the submission period (January 15 - March 15), entrants may upload a 3-5 minute redemptive film online at www.reeldreamsfilmfest.com.
The online components are powered by Godtube.com and Big Jump Media, Inc. GodTube.com is a video-driven, family-friendly social network designed for both Christians and non-Christians to share the message and love of Christ. Entrant videos will be open for viewing by the public on www.godtube.com/reeldreams where viewers can also vote for their favorite films. These public votes will be taken into consideration when selecting the Audience Favorite Award and helping films go onto the semi-finals and finals.
Each entrant must be the sole producer/director/writer of a short film portraying character facing a moral dilemma that leads to good or bad consequences affecting the individual and those around them. The film must have a compelling story with an overall positive impact in the choices of morality.
"Our mission at Regent University is to encourage the next generation of leaders in redemptive film-making," said Michael Patrick, dean of Regent's School of Communication & the Arts. "This competition helps us to connect with them as a film school and helps them to fulfill their calling."
The top 10 finalists will be selected on May 1 and will be flown to Virginia Beach for an all-inclusive weekend where they will compete at a live webcast event on the campus of Regent University May 31 - June 1. A grand prize winner will be selected by onsite industry professional judges and will receive a full tuition-paid scholarship for one degree at Regent's School of Communication & the Arts.
