Rocket Attacks in Israel & Muslim Vengeance

Greetings all,

I just returned from Israel and this was no Holy Land bus tour. I don’t want to sound disparaging about bus tours but this trip was a journey to areas of Israel that are under constant bombardment from Palestinians in Gaza.

One-Hundred-Twenty to 150 rockets were fired at southern Israel over a 36 hour period this past weekend, resulting in the injuries of more than 47 people. I was just there in a town named Sderot on the border of Gaza!

I talked to the mayor of Sderot, also a woman who survived a rocket exploding in her home as she held her son and a small girl in her lap. She lived with three pieces of shrapnel in her head. The children too miraculously survived.

I also interviewed the people and children who live with this on a daily basis, the emotional fallout it has, and the fact that from the time the warning sirens go off, you have fifteen seconds to get to a bomb shelter!

Can you imagine living in south Texas or any of our northern border states adjoining Canada and being bombarded by rockets on a daily basis from Canada or Mexico? How long would the USA sit still for such attacks without retaliating?

That’s when Bible verses are more than just words on a page but literal words that one would have to cling to ?trust “God whose majesty is over Israel, whose power in in the skies!” (Psalm 68.34)

And then there is the story of the pastor from Uganda, once a Muslim who converted to Christianity. His former Muslim brothers poured a bucket of acid on his head! He lost an eye and his whole face is being reconstructed by Israeli plastic surgeons, in Israel, free of charge!

A real test in regard to “loving your enemies” once your brothers.

In the meantime we simply ask that, wherever you may be that you “Remember the Lord in a distant land, and think on Jerusalem.” (Jeremiah 51.50)
