International Religious Freedom Ambassador Confirmed

The long wait for a new Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom is now over.

Last week, the Senate confirmed Dr. Suzan D. Johnson Cook for the post. President Obama didn't nominate Johnson Cook until June of 2010. Then, her confirmation was held up in the Senate, and the White House had to re-submit it again in February.

In March, a group of faith leaders petitioned the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to pass the nomination.

And Thursday, they finally confirmed "Dr. Sujay" as she is called.

Dr. Johnson Cook has been a pastor and a best-selling Christian author. She will soon be moving to DC and traveling the world extensively.
