Is anyone paying attention?

I woke up on this lazy Saturday morning listening to the news...rebels have taken the capital of Chad and are trying to oust President Deby.  I thought I was dreaming!  Sure there have been coup attempts before, but I don't remember them being this fast and furious.   I hear it only took hours for the rebels to ride across Chad and drive into N'Djamena!  (Read the whole story here.)

It sounds like the palace is still secure, but for how long?

Walid Phares just posted a very interesting blog entry about what all this could mean for the future of Darfur peacekeeping.  Chad is "home" to thousands of refugees from Darfur and is a strategic country for stability in the region.  I highly suggest you read this blog entry as it discusses the profound ramifications of the near overthrow.  Here's a link to his article:   Chad's Future Taliban enters capital while the West is asleep

Meanwhile, there's fresh violence in the western part of Kenya.  About 22 people were killed and a church near Eldoret was burned down.  (Read the whole story here.)

Don't forget to continue to pray for the peace of Kenya and, while you're at it, pray for God's best for Chad.

As always, I value your input!  E-mail me at this address.
