Learning from Readers

I continue to get a lot of really interesting and insightful comments from Africa Matters readers. It seems everyday I learn something new. It's great to hear from people on the ground from around the continent!

Here's an update from Kenya. Charity in the Rift Valley Province writes.

"For Christians, this environment (post power-sharing agreement) provides us with an opportunity to dialogue issues across political and tribal lines and get involved in conflict resolution and reconstruction, cleansing of our nation and reconciliation with sober minds. Of course we have not arrived as we need to continue praying and interceding for our Country that God will redeem us. It will be a long journey for us as a nation to appreciate, accept and manage our tribal diversity constructively.

Sangster writes:

"If there is no settlement, chances are that in 5, 10, 15 years time the situation will repeat itself. I'm reminded of book by the British evangelist Derrick Prince called `Experiencing God's Power' in which he wrote of the situation in Kenya during the struggle for independence. He talked of two leaders God was going to use in Kenya and how a disaster was prevented by prayer.

Kenya needs Divine and not human intervention.

The church in Kenya should pray so that devil should loosen his hold on that country-2 Chronicles 7:14.

Kenya suffers from leadership deficiency. But with God all things are possible."

Of Zimbabwe, Emmanuel in Botswana writes:

"I was wondering if you guys have anyone covering Zimbabwean politics?

Looks like there is lots of new hopes with the new guy running for President."

Absolutely!  I hope to take a closer look at Zimbabwe's politics soon. I have written a lot on this blog in the past about President Mugabe...will have to see who might be his successor.  Keep checking back for updates!

I am always enjoy hearing from readers!  Please drop me an e-mail with story ideas, comments, insights.
