SCOTUS Sympathetic to Gov. McDonnell

It was a good day at the Supreme Court for former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell. After being convicted of political corruption charges in a lower federal court, justices seemed poised to overturn his conviction and address federal bribery laws.

Justice Breyer seemed particularly troubled by the nearly unbridled power given to federal prosecutors to go after elected officials for performing every day acts for the constituents.
