Obama Blasts Critics over Refusing to Say 'Radical Islam'

06-14-2016

President Obama blasted his critics, including Donald Trump, who want him to deliver tougher talk on terrorism from the White House.

The terrorist attack in Orlando rejuvenated criticism against the president for calling the type of terror delivered by Omar Mateen, the Islamic State, and other groups "violent extremism" instead of "radical Islam."

"Calling a threat by a different name does not make it go away, this is a political distraction," Mr. Obama said after a national security briefing on the fight against ISIS and the investigation into the terror attack in Orlando.

He suggests that calling terrorism committed by Muslims, "radical Islam" breeds a dangerous environment that's allowed Donald Trump to succeed.

"Where does this stop?" he asked.

He slammed Trump's proposed ban on Muslim immigration saying it would make Muslim Americans feel betrayed while undermining American values.

"If we ever abandon those values, we would not only make it a lot easier to radicalize people here and around the world, and then the terrorists would have won and we cannot let that happen," he continued.

Isik Abla is a TV host who converted from Islam to Christianity. She says that when it comes to Muslim terrorists, rhetoric matters and she’s urging America to "wake up."

"It is what it is; its name is radical Islam. As a matter of fact, Islam is radical," she tells CBN News.

Abla posted on Facebook about this after the terrorist attack in Orlando and her post went viral.

"Wake up America, this has been my heart’s cry and I have been so passionate since September 11 because this is the country where I found freedom. This is the country where I found Christianity, I found Jesus Christ and I got free. Listen darling, when I was in my own culture, in my country I had no voice I was less than a cow and in this beautiful free country I found freedom and I have a voice," she said.
