Why Chonda Pierce Says 'All Saints' is Must See for Struggling Churches

Christian comedian Chonda Pierce is no stranger to making people smile. The character she plays in the new film 'All Saints' isn't quite as charming.

Pierce plays Ruth, a member of the All Saints congregation who is resistant to change.

"I grew up in the church, so I've seen the good, bad and the ugly. My part in this film is one of the uglies!" Pierce said in an interview with Efrem Graham.

"She reminds me of a lot of church folks who get completely off focus of what the church is all about," Pierce added.

All Saints is based on the true story of salesman-turned-pastor Michael Spurlock (John Corbett), the tiny church he was ordered to shut down, and a group of refugees from Southeast Asia. Spurlock is on a mission to save the church and help the group of refugees.

Pierce's character focuses on tradition and isn't exactly on board with the changes the new pastor wants to make.

"This is a must see story for a lot of the churches, especially a lot of the small churches that are struggling," said Pierce.

"All Saints" hits theaters nationwide August 25th.
