The vast majority of America's kids need to exercise more, according to a new study released by the NFL's Play 60 Fitnessgram partnership project.

Researchers looked at nearly 200,000 students nationwide, ranging from first graders to high school seniors.

They found that three-quarters of fourth through twelfth graders failed to meet health requirements for aerobic capacity, abdominal strength, upper body strength, flexibility, endurance, and body mass index.

The study, funded by the NFL, showed fitness levels sharply declined as kids got older.

Fitness experts say the findings indicate the need for parents to encourage physical activity among their kids and model it themselves.
