JERUSALEM, Israel -- Israeli police uncovered a bomb, charged and ready to detonate, in the gym of a junior high school in Petah Tikvah, near Tel Aviv, Tuesday evening.

Police are investigating to determine if the incident is nationalistically or criminally motivated.

Police sappers defused the device and arrested two men, a school janitor and his associate, on suspicion of selling drugs and guns on school property.

In February 2013, a kindergarten teacher in the northern coastal town of Nahariya discovered bomb components in the children's sandbox.

That same month, police uncovered an extensive weapons cache on the grounds of a kindergarten for special needs children in the Arab village of Abu Sinan in the western Galilee. The cache included light anti-tank missiles, explosives, detonators, fragmentation grenades, RPG rockets, and hundreds of bullets.

In a third incident that February, police found an assault rifle, handgun and explosives under the floorboards of a kindergarten in Taiba, near Kfar Saba.
