Pope Francis' upcoming visit to Israel may be in jeopardy now that the Israeli agency in charge of planning the trip is on strike.

Workers at the Israeli Foreign Ministry are demanding better wages and working conditions.

The strike has already closed more than 100 Israeli embassies and consulates.

Meanwhile, an official from the Catholic church warned if it continues, Israel will be removed from the Pope's Middle East trip itinerary in May.

"If the strike will go two months, I don't think that we can make the visit to Israel," Latin Patriarch Fouad Twal, the top Catholic clergyman in Jerusalem told reporters.

The Israeli government is assuring the trip will not be disrupted.
