Jordan Foils Major Terror Attack

JERUSALEM, Israel – A terrorist holding dual Iraqi-Norwegian citizenship is on trial before a military tribunal in Jordan's State Security Court charged with possessing explosives and planning terror attacks.

When security forces arrested him in the town of Jerash in northern Jordan, they found 100 pounds of high-grade explosives, the largest terror bust in the Hashemite Kingdom in more than a decade.

According to Jordan's Al-Rai newspaper, the suspect is a member of an Iranian terror group calling itself Bayt al-Maqdis, not related to the ISIS-affiliated terror group that carried out last weekend's attacks against Egyptian security forces in northern Sinai. The Sinai-based group recently changed its name to Wilayat Sinai.

The court issued a gag order on the trial.
