JERUSALEM, Israel -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahyu denounced the European Union’s decision to label Israeli goods produced outside the pre-1967 armistice lines, alluding to labeling Jewish products under Hitler’s regime.

“We have historical memory of what happened when Europe labeled Jewish products,” Netanyahu said.

“This is unjust. It is simply a distortion of justice and of logic, and I think that it also hurts peace. It does not advance peace,” he said. “The root of the conflict is not the territories and the root of the conflict is not the settlements.”

Earlier this week, the E.U. announced it was putting the finishing touches on its BDS package, which passed by a vote of 525 to 70 with 31 abstentions.

Federica Mogherini, current E.U. foreign policy chief, is tasked with overseeing the implementation of the vote, which many believe is meant to penalize Israeli manufacturers, business people and farmers who live outside the armistice lines.
