JERUSALEM, Israel -- Hamas and the Palestinian Authority are praising an Israeli Arab terrorist as a martyr after he was killed in a gun battle with Israeli security forces.

Nashat Milhem killed two Israelis in a terror attack on a Tel Aviv pub a week earlier. He's believed to have killed a Tel Aviv taxi driver during his escape.

The attack gripped the country because Milhem was at large for a week.

He was found hiding out in a house in his home village in northern Israel Friday.

He fired the same submachine gun he had used during the terror attack on security forces.

At least 28 Israelis have been murdered in Palestinian stabbing, shooting and car ramming attacks during the last four months.

More than 130 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire, about two-thirds of them as they were attempting to carry out terror attacks. The rest were killed in clashes with the Israeli military.
