JERUSALEM, Israel -- A police delegation of 52 sheriffs and officers from the United States is visiting Israel this week to learn about Israel's response to terrorism.

Hosted by the Israel National Police (INP), the delegation will visit sites where terror attacks have taken place and the INP have prevented and responded to terror attacks.

Sheriffs from Orlando, Florida, and San Bernardino, California, are among the delegation, both of whom have personally witnessed terror attack in their cities.

Orlando Police Chief John Mina said he felt compelled to join the delegation when he was invited following the attack in Orlando.

"After what happened, it made me want to come to Israel even more, just to learn more from the Israeli Police to see how they deal with terrorism, how they respond to it, and see what their training is like," Mina was quoted as saying in the Jerusalem Post.

During the week, they will have the opportunity to watch INP training, live exhibitions and self-defense at the police academy. They will attend many seminars as well as training exercises.

The program is part of an annual National Counter-Terrorism Seminar (NCTS) hosted by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).
