The Republican National Committee is taking a stand for life and pushing back against Democrats' claims the party is waging a "war on women."

The RNC passed a resolution urging candidates to speak out about abortion.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the national pro-life group the Susan B. Anthony List, praised the resolution and its goals.

"It is time to be fearless, compassionate and purposeful in communicating our life-affirming views," she said. "To fail to do so undermines the purpose of running for office."

Author and chief sponsor of the resolution RNC Committeewoman Ellen Barrosse previously said: "The Republican Party is proudly pro-life and my resolution talks about successful strategies for connecting with American voters on the life issue."

"The position on the life issue that Democrats have staked out is extreme," he continued. "And we want our candidates to know how to fight back against Democrats' deceptive, 'war on women' rhetoric."
