March marks a demographic milestone, showing how the face of America is changing.

The Pew Research Center reports Latinos will overtake whites to become California's largest racial-ethnic group.

They're on track to make up 39 percent of the most populous state, pulling in front of the 38.8 percent who are non-Hispanic and white.

The Hispanic electorate across the country is expected to jump from 23 million to 40 million by 2030.

However, experts say Latino political power is currently lagging.

"Demographic triumphalism masks economic, organizational and structural weakness," The Guardian quoted Roberto Suro, a Latino affairs scholar at the University of Southern California.

Latino voters are just one focus of the Republican Party ahead of this year's midterm elections.

Today the Republican National Committee is beginning a new ad campaign, called "Create Your American Dream," to reach out to different minorities, including Hispanics and women.

The GOP is hoping the spot will attract voters unhappy with the Obama administration.

The ad will air in 14 states and mostly run on channels targeting women and minorities, like Bravo, Food Network and Telemundo.

Republicans also hope to gain younger votes by airing the ads on streaming sites like Hulu.

In 2012, the Obama administration used a similar ad strategy, which proved to be successful.
