President Barack Obama called global warming a threat to America's national security.

In a speech to Coast Guard graduates in Connecticut, the president said climate change is contributing to social tension and political instability worldwide.

"Climate change will impact every country on the planet; no nation is immune," he said.

"So I'm here today to say that climate change constitutes a serious threat to global security, an immediate risk to our national security, and make no mistake, it will impact how our military defends our country. So we need to act and we need to act now," he said.

The president also called the evidence for climate change "indisputable" and said the United States is poised to begin reducing greenhouse gases.

As CBN News has reported, however, a growing number of scientists are saying climate change is not a serious threat.
