It appears that presidential candidate Donald Trump has chosen Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate.

"It's pretty much a done deal," one source told CBN's David Brody.

Publically, however, the Trump campaign remains mum, tweeting that a decision has not been made yet. Officials say the presumptive GOP nominee will be announcing his pick Friday at 11 a.m. ET as planned.

As far as most evangelicals are concerned, Pence is the perfect pick.

"I'm heartened by the multiple media reports that Mike Pence is Donald Trump's choice for vice president, and hope the stories are accurate," prominent evangelical leader Gary Bauer said in a statement Thursday.

"Mike Pence would be a grand slam home run. Most evangelical leaders would be ecstatic. He would reassure values voters, and he would help Trump understand our constituency," he said.

The Republican governor spent six terms in the Senate and has the type of political experience Republicans say Trump is missing.

"I can't imagine a finer man than Mike Pence to join Donald Trump in not just a race for the presidency but in a fight to protect the future of America," Bauer stated. "His presence in the race will encourage Main Street America whose interests have been ignored by Beltway bureaucrats and Washington insiders."

Meanwhile, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, who also is said to be among Trump's possible vice presidential picks, says he's expecting to hear from the GOP presumptive nominee one way or the other this afternoon.
