Where 'Travel Ban' Now Stands: Trump Takes Off the Gloves

WASHINGTON – In light of the London terror attacks, President Donald Trump is stressing the need for what he calls a "travel ban" to restrict immigration from six terror prone, mostly Muslim countries.

The revised ban is now in the hands of the United States Supreme Court, but Trump doesn't think it goes far enough.

On Monday, he slammed his Justice Department on Twitter for what he views as a "watered down" version.

"The Justice Dept. should have stayed with the original Travel Ban, not the watered down, politically correct version they submitted to S.C.," he wrote.

Despite the careful efforts of his team to characterize the executive order as a "temporary pause," Trump is calling it like he's sees it.

"People, the lawyers and the courts can call it whatever they want, but I am calling it what we need and what it is: a TRAVEL BAN!" he wrote.

Trump is urging the Justice Department to seek a more hardline version..

"The Justice Dept. should ask for an expedited hearing of the watered down Travel Ban before the Supreme Court - & seek much tougher version," he tweeted.

Travel ban or not, Trump is vowing to tighten security.

"In any event, we are EXTREME VETTING people coming into the U.S. in order to help keep our country safe. The courts are slow and political!"
