The Obama administration is poised to announce another major delay in the Affordable Care Act.

The Hill reports the White House will allow insurers to keep offering health care plans that don't meet the law's requirements.

The move will prevent another wave of policy cancellations this fall. Such an occurrence would cause trouble for Democratic candidates weeks before the congressional elections.

"I don't see how they could have a bunch of these announcements going out in September," The Hill quoted one health insurance industry consultant.

"Not when they're trying to defend the Senate and keep their losses at a minimum in the House. This is not something to have out there right before the election," the consultant said.

Currently, polls show Democrats could very well lose control of the Senate.
