A Wyoming community is evacuating residents in the face of a landslide threat.

The town of Jackson ordered people in the west side of town to leave Wednesday night.

Assistant Town Manager Roxanne Robinson said that although the hillside isn't as big as the slope in Oso, Wash., that collapsed last month and killed at least 36 people, authorities weren't taking any chances.

"I don't think there's any kind of threat to loss of life, but there is a chance a portion of the hillside could slide down," Robinson told NBC News on Thursday.

About 25 homes and a pharmacy were evacuated after a waterline break caused a hillside to become unsteady and unpredictable.

"Time has been on our side, allowing us to focus on pre-planning. We've taken the first step of notification and evacuation," Incident Commander Cole Nethercott said. "Safety will remain our number one priority."

Meanwhile, residents are still waiting to hear when it'll be safe to go home.
