A bill to restore unemployment benefits is heading to the House of Representatives.

The Democratic-led Senate passed a bill Monday to bring back benefits for the more than 2 million Americans whose coverage expired late last year.

President Barack Obama is urging the Republican-led House to approve the measure, but House Speaker John Boehner and the majority of Republican leaders oppose the bill.

The GOP supports extending unemployment insurance, but only if it also encourages job growth.

With minimal support from Republicans facing elections in states with high unemployment, the House is expected to reject the bill.
