He explained that he's gotten an infection, which is very dangerous for his condition.

"I mentioned before that if you get an infection during the neutropenic stage, with my immune system completely gone that it could be fatal. Well, I don't know how or where but I got an infection. They will be admitting me into the hospital for 24/7 care," he wrote to fans.

He added, "I don't mean to be fatalistic but if for some reason I don't make it out of here, I want you all to know what great friends you've been to me and how much I've loved every minute of being on the stage ministering."

"This whole situation is making me cry. Thinking about never seeing you again. I hope things change but I can't even lift my head up, and they wheelchair me everywhere. Oh well, at least I got the record finished," he concluded.

Within a day, more than 25,000 fans commented on his latest post with encouraging words for the artist.

One woman wrote, "Don't give up!...When you lose strength call upon the Lord."

Another man wrote, "Carman! Be not dismayed." He went on to share his own battle with the often deadly disease and how he is now healed.

Carman was diagnosed with myeloma cancer in Februrary last year. It's considered incurable and at the time he was given three to four years to live.

Carman's website describes him as an "enigma" in Christian music with his concerts being a cross between a Vegas show and a rock-and-roll Billy Graham Crusade.

He has 15 gold and platinum albums and videos to his name and has sold more than 10 million records. At his various events through the years, thousands have come to Christ.

During one special Halloween event in 1999 his website reports he had "the largest alter call ever" with 70,000 people committing their lives to Christ that night.

He just finished a new album that is supposed to be released in February or March.
