Federal judges have blocked a pro-life law that would have closed the doors to the only abortion clinic in Mississippi.

The three-judge panel of the 5th U.S.Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday that a law which requires abortion doctors to obtain admitting privileges at a local hospital cannot be enforced.

Doctors at the the Women's Health Organization was unable to obtain the privileges and would have been forced to shut down.

Attorneys for the state argued women could still get abortions in other states.

But the panel ruled the state may not shift its obligation for established constitutional rights for its citizens to another state.
