Flames have consumed more than 940,000 acres in Oregon and Washington state, as wildfires continue to burn across the western part of the country Tuesday.

Fast moving fires wiped out entire neighborhoods in Washington, with 20 counties declaring states of emergency.

One fire burned 380 square miles, more than four times the size of Seattle. Fire officials said the fire is only 2 percent contained but the situation is improving.

Cooler temperatures and reduced winds are helping firefighters battle a fire in Okanagan county, which has burned about 150 homes.
