A group of Southern Baptists say recent stories about heaven may not be biblically accurate.

At annual Southern Baptist Convention, the delegation from Baltimore introduced a resolution calling on their LifeWay Christian Stores to stop selling the book "Heaven Is for Real."

The best-selling book and film depicts a 4-year-old's account of heaven and meeting Jesus.

Southern Baptist leaders says people can be led astray by popular books and movies that include personal testimonies that cannot be corroborated and often conflict with what the Bible teaches.

Because "the doctrines of the afterlife are critical to a full understanding of salvation and repentance," Southern Baptists "reaffirm the sufficiency of biblical revelation over subjective experiential explanations to guide one's understanding of the truth about heaven and hell," the June 10 resolution states.

Charisma News reports that despite concerns over its biblical accuracy, LifeWay will continue to carry the book.
