Billboard Challenges Air Force's 'God-less' Oath

Religious freedom advocates have posted a billboard challenging the Air Force Academy's decision to remove the phrase "so help me God" from the cadet oath of office.

The Chaplain Alliance for Religious Freedom and the Restore Military Religious Freedom Coalition put the billboard not far from an academy entrance.

"The message is clear, our Founding Fathers said 'So help me God' on taking their oath of office; Air Force cadets have that same freedom," Ron Crews, executive director of the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty, said.

"Our billboard is a reminder that cadets can say the phrase, which is deeply rooted in American tradition," Crews added.

When members of Congress intervened, the academy said the omission was a printing error and that cadets have the option to say those words.

The billboard will remain posted for two months.
