'Peabody and Sherman' Provide Laughs for Families
This weekend families can look forward to a night of laughs with the movie "Mr. Peabody and Sherman."
The new animated film invites kids of all ages on a time-traveling adventure film.
A genius dog named Mr. Peabody and his adopted human son, Sherman, use their Wayback machine to hop across timelines and meet historical figures face-to-face.
But the two quickly find themselves in the middle of a race against the clock to straighten out the timeline to avoid a catastrophic event.
Although family friendly, some critics said the movie doesn't do the original 1960s cartoon justice.
"In bringing Peabody and Sherman to a modern audience, it seems that DreamWorks added content that would surely disappoint Peabody himself," Plugged In Online movie reviewer Paul Asay wrote.
"Yes, 'Peabody's Improbable History' always had a sly sense of fun," he said. "But the show's landmark creativity has turned a tad more crass here."
Still, "Mr. Peabody and Sherman" earned a four out of five for overall family friendliness.
Bob Waliszewski, director of Plugged In Online, shared his thoughts on "Mr. Peabody and Sherman" and other films on CBN News Today, March 7.
