For those across the country facing a stormy Memorial Day weekend, taking the family to a movie could be a sensible alternative.

However, families might want to steer clear of Adam Sandler's "Blended," as well as the newest "X-Men" movie.

Though both movies have positive elements, Focus on the Family's Bob Waliszewski gave them no higher than a 2.5 out of 5 stars for family friendliness.

A safe bet for families: "Belle," an18th-century period piece inspired by the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle, the illegitimate mixed race daughter of an admiral before the end of slavery in England.

"I would call it a prequel to 'Amazing Grace,' the William Wilberforce story in London," Waliszewski said.
