With the weekend now here, some families might be looking to enjoy some time at the movie theater. Here's what you should know about this weekend's flicks at the box office.

Rated a mere 2.5 out of 5, tornado thriller "Into the Storm" disappointed movie critic Paul Asay from PluggedIn online.

"Into the Storm has all the hallmarks of a cheap B-movie thriller. (See: Twister.) While the special effects are better than what you'd encounter on, say, the Syfy channel, all that's really separating this late-summer flick and Sharknado are the sharks," Asay wrote

Up a half a point in rating is Paramount Pictures' "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," but the turtles out in theaters tonight might not be what audiences are expecting.

"The cute, quick-flipping, joke-lobbing turtles of yore have been replaced with bulkier, rougher-looking, more muscularly threatening crime-fighters who toss around vehicles and fearsome foes far more often than they let loose a quirky quip," movie reviewer Bob Hoose wrote.

Need more help deciding on a good choice for you and your family? Bob Waliszewski, director of Focus on the Family's Plugged In, offered his insights on this weekend's movies, on CBN News Today, Aug. 8.
