Bitter Winter Weather Battering the Northeast
12-31-1969
A relentless and bitter winter is battering the Northeast, with two major storms hitting in a span of two weeks. Now a third is on the way.
Wednesday's storm delivered snow and lots of ice, making travel dangerous in more than 20 states. Thousands of flights were cancelled or delayed.
Road conditions weren't any better. Michigan's I-94 was shut down after a chain of collisions, making it one of their worst days of this winter season.
Nearly 1 million people lost power during the storm, most of them in Pennsylvania.
Meanwhile, crews are working as hard and fast as they can to remove ice from power lines and trees before the next storm moves in this weekend.
