Twin brothers David and Jason Benham, who recently made headlines for being axed by the HGTV network for Christian beliefs, joined CBN News at the annual Congressional Correspondents' dinner Thursday night.

They attended the dinner to show the love of Christ to some of the people who interviewed them during the media firestorm and to encourage believers to stand strong. The brothers' stance on Christian beliefs recently cost them a reality show on HG-TV.

"We've had so many folks that have said that you guys are being persecuted, and David and I say persecution is Meriam Ibrahim who's set to receive a hundred lashes and then be hanged for her faith. That's persecution," Jason Benham told CBN News. "But that will come here if we don't take a stand now. That's why we're so compelled to stand for Jesus now."

"Our message is II Chron 7:14: 'If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will heal their land.' And that's what we really want. We want our land healed. We want our nation healed," David Benham added.

The brothers said they're praying and believing that America is in the midst of a spiritual awakening.
