TLC is dropping the reality TV show "19 Kids and Counting," starring the Duggar family.

For ten seasons, the hit show centered on Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their now 19 children.

Network officials made the announcement Thursday after information surfaced last May that the oldest Duggar son, Josh, molested five children, including four of his sisters, starting when he was 14 years old.

"After thoughtful consideration, TLC and the Duggar family have decided to not move forward with '19 Kids and Counting.' The show will no longer appear on the air," TLC executives said in a statement.

"TLC has been especially concerned for the victims in this situation, including the Duggar family, and it is our hope that this effort will help those in need learn where to turn for information and help," the statement added.

Bob and Michelle Duggar, also released a satement about the cancellation.

"Today, TLC, announced that they will not be filming new episodes of 19 Kids and Counting. With God's grace and help, Josh, our daughters and our entire family overcame a terrible situation, found healing and a way forward.  We are so pleased with the wonderful adults they have all become," they said.

The network also plans to team with child-protection agencies for an ongoing campaign to raise awareness about child sexual abuse. The initiatve will begin with a one-hour, commercial-free documentary set to air in August.

When news first surfaced about Josh's past, he posted on Facebook, "Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably, for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret."

"I sought forgiveness from those I had wronged and asked Christ to forgive me and come into my life," he wrote. "I would do anything to go back to those teen years and take different actions. In my life today, I am so very thankful for God's grace, mercy and redemption."

The show had been on the air since 2008.
