A note from a child addressed to Jesus and left in a Bible at an elementary school eventually led to a conviction for felony sex crimes.

Cincinnati.com reports that Covington, Kentucky, police found the note from an 8-year-old girl talking about how 37-year-old Eric Rivera had abused her since she was 6 years old and pleaded with Jesus to stop him.

Detectives then interviewed her and when officers searched the suspect's home, they found pornographic magazines she had described right where she said they would be. They also found more than 180 pornographic images on his phone.

He was arrested and charged with several felonies, including first degree sodomy and first degree sexual abuse.

After nearly two years of litigation, the defendant pleaded guilty on May 28 and now faces up to 25 years in prison.

His sentencing is set for July 13.
