Bowe Bergdahl, the Army sergeant who abandoned his post in Afghanistan, is getting off easy, a former member of his platoon said.

This past weekend the Army recommended Bergdahl face a lower-level court martial and be spared prison. But Josh Korder, an ex-U.S. Army sergeant, is angered that Bergdahl isn't getting jail time.

Korder said Bergdahl is to blame for the deaths of several soldiers who searched for him for 45 days.

"Was it during the search for Bergdahl that we lost men in Blackfoot company? No. But was it as a result of that search and as a result of him leaving that we lost members of Blackfoot company? Yes," Korder said.

Commanding officers also also testified the search put soldiers in danger, but the Pentagon said there's no evidence anyone died in the search.

Gen. Robert Abrams, the commanding general of U.S. Army Forces Command, will decide the case. There is no word on decision timeline.
