Hundreds of tourists were evacuated from New York's Statue of Liberty after an anonymous caller made a bomb threat.

The National Park Service says someone called 911 on Friday around 11 a.m. and said they were "going to blow up the Statue of Liberty."

The Statue of Liberty was evacuated as a precaution and all visitors and personnel are safe.

Visitor Karen Mason, of Cincinnati, Ohio, says the scene was "very orderly."

Law enforcement explosive experts and Park Service are on the island surveying the scene.
