Graham Defends Duck Dynasty Phil Robertson's Prayer at NASCAR
Franklin Graham is showing support for Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson after Robertson's prayer at a NASCAR event drew criticism.
Robertson commented that in this country we have "Bibles and guns" and that he was going to pray to the One who "made that all possible."
"Father, thank you for founding our nation. I pray Father that we don't forget who brought us - you. Our faith in the blood of Jesus and His resurrection. Help us Father to get back to that," he said. "I pray Father that we put a Jesus-man in the White House. Help us do that and help us all to repent, to do what is right, to love you more and to love each other. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen," Robertson prayed in part.
On his Facebook page, Franklin Graham applauded Robertson's call for America to get back to God.
"Pray with me that this nation will turn back to Almighty God! A reminder to every reader— One day 'at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father,'" Graham wrote, referencing .
According to ChristianHeadlines.com, the President of Texas Motor Speedway Eddie Gossage also shared support for Robertson.
"There are a lot of people that agree with him and a lot that disagree with him. Nowadays, you cannot say what you think because of political correctness. So I guess everyone has a right to free speech or nobody does," he said, comparing Robertson's right to expression with Bruce Springsteen's right to boycott North Carolina over the transgender law controversy.
"I defend Bruce Springsteen's rights to take his position and, if you do that, then you've got to defend everybody else's, too," Gossage added.
