Liberty University Students Now Allowed to Carry Guns in Dorms

Liberty University will now allow students with concealed carry permits to keep their guns in their dorm rooms.

Before the new policy change, students were allowed to carry guns anywhere on campus except residence halls. Students who want to keep their firearms in their dorms must first get university permission and be at least 21 years old.

Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. says the new policy affects few people because not many 21-year-old students out of the 14,500 residential students live in campus dorms.

General Counsel for Liberty University told WDTN News that the policy change makes their campus more safe.

"We feel that our campus is actually safer because there is an unknown number of people on campus who would be able to defend themselves and maybe others should something tragic occur," Corry said.
