Oregon Bakers Appeal Ruling Against Their Religious Rights

Oregon bakery owners who declined to bake a cake for a same-sex wedding ceremony are now appealing a court order to pay $135,000 in fines.

Aaron and Melissa Klein have been facing a legal battle since they took a stand for their faith three years ago.

The damages were awarded last July, but the Kleins have now filed a brief with the Oregon Court of Appeals.

The couple's attorney says the state's Bureau of Labor violated the Kleins' rights to freedom of expression, freedom of religion and due process.

The Kleins say their decision not to bake a gay wedding cake was prompted by their Christian belief that marriage is the union of a man and a woman.
