Have We All Forgotten What Really Makes America Great?

Have Americans forgotten our founding fathers' orginal intention for our great nation? And if so, what does that mean for the future of our country?

Five-time New York Times bestselling author Eric Metaxas addresses these questions head on in his new book, If You Can Keep It: The Forgotten Promise of American Liberty

In his newest book to make the bestseller list, Metaxas highlights the important role faith has played in the founding of America from a historical perspective. He points out how both liberals and conservatives are getting it wrong when it comes to promoting the values that make America great.

He believes our country is at a crucial tipping point, and we must fix it before it's too late.

"The founders understood what they had created with the Constitution would not work unless the people would keep it," Metaxas said.

"If we can keep it, whether we keep it, is up to the people," Metaxas continued. "Once Americans believe that the leaders are corrupt, that the leaders don't really connect with them anymore, at that point you can no longer have Republican Democracy, and I think we're at the edge."

"That's one of the reasons I'm so passionate because I think if we don't act on this immediately I think that we're going to slide off into the abyss," he said.

Watch CBN News Reporter Abigail Robetson talk to Metaxas about religious liberty, the upcoming election, and how we can fix our country before it's too late.
