Digital Tithe: A New Way To Give a Tenth

The church collection plate could look a little different in the future.

An app called Tithe.ly is seeking to upgrade the traditional church offering plate by taking "giving" mobile.

CBN News spoke with Tithe.ly co-founder Dean Sweetman. Click play to watch the full interview.

Tithe.ly Co-founder Dean Sweetman is a former minister who designed the app after noticing the world outside of the church walls moving digitally.

In a time when very few people carry cash or a checkbook, Sweetman offers Tithe.ly as a convenient alternative.

The app allows worshipers to set up automatic recurring payments or tithe on demand if their church has subscribed to the app.

According to Bloomberg Business, churches using tithing apps report they see more donations, more often, from more people.

Tithe.ly is free to users, but the subscribing churches either pay a monthly fee or allow the app to collect a percentage of each gift. Tithe.ly also has a feature that allows donors to cover the fee for their church.
