Rodriguez Says He Must Approve Trump Video for Latino Evangelical Conference

The leader of the nation's largest Latino evangelical organization is warning that he may decline to use a videotaped message from Donald Trump at the annual conference of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC) this week.

NHCLC President Rev. Samuel Rodriguez told the Washington Post that he will only air the video if he thinks it's respectful to Latinos and the country's immigrants.  "I will personally get the video and scrutinize it, of course," said Rodriguez.

The Post reports that Trump, the presumed GOP presidential nominee, is sending a videotaped message to be played at the NHCLC conference May 20-21 in Anaheim, California.

Just three weeks ago, Rodriguez told CBN News that Trump is not a racist but said that his rhetoric on immigration has been counter-productive.

Rodriguez told the Post that he has invited the Democratic candidates for president, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, to the NHCLC conference but has not heard back.

In 2015, GOP candidates Jeb Bush and Mike Huckabee addressed the NHCLC conference in Houston.
