The town of Archbold, Ohio was forced to publicly abandon their Christian roots this week after they were asked to remove a town seal that included the image of a church building.

The town seal displayed a Christian church at the center of the town, surrounded by buildings, street signs and other documents.

It has now been removed from various buildings, signs and documents.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation says the town violated the so-called separation of church and state through their seal and motto.

The town has also stopped calling itself a "Christian community" on its website.

The town website now features the text, "Live Archbold!" superimposed on the state of Ohio, and the new motto calls the town "A Community of Character!"
