The town of Cushing, Oklahoma, also known as the "Pipeline Crossroads of the World," was hit by a 5.0 magnitude earthquake on Sunday evening, damaging some infrastructure in the world's key oil hub.

The quake was felt in Iowa, Illinois and Texas, according to an NBC report.

There have been 19 earthquakes in Oklahoma in the past week, according to a USGS report.

The latest temblor brought down building facades and shattered windows, and it may have damaged the infrastructure of century-old buildings, leaving them unsafe.

Assistant City Manager Jeremy Frazier told a news conference on Sunday night that a few minor injuries were reported.

He said that the damage was in downtown Cushing where debris could be seen at the base of some of the commercial buildings.

Sunday's earthquake is among many that have hit Oklahoma in recent years and was 25 miles south from where a magnitude 4.3 earthquake hit last week and forced a shutdown of several wells.

The town of Cushing holds one of the world's largest oil storage terminals. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the area holds 58.5 million barrels of crude oil.
