A stair stepper machine at a Planet Fitness was how one man honored the 15th anniversary of 9/11 this past Sunday.

Jason Harding, a public safety officer, climbed the stair stepper in full fire fighter gear at a Planet Fitness in Maryville,Tennessee. He climbed the equivalent of 110 stories, the same number to the top of the World Trade Center.

The man had asked the front desk associate Lezlie Bauler for permission to climb the stair stepper in full gear for his fallen brothers and sisters.

Bauler posted the picture of him climbing the stairs on Facebook, where it has been shared more than 141,000 times.

"I am not one to get emotional, but a few tears were shed," she said.

"I have participated in Nashville's Memorial Stair Climb for the past four years. Unable to make it this year I decided to honor anyway," Harding said to WLTV. "When I went to the gym this morning at 6 a.m. before coming onto shift I was only wanting to honor the fallen heroes and their families on this day 15 years ago."

Harding's act came with many comments and compliments on social media.

"Many stated my act brought them to tears but little do they know, their support did the same for me," he said.
