Gas prices have been going up the past few months, but that could soon change.

The Energy Information Administration says that by the end of summer, prices could be down as much as $0.30 cents.

The current national average for a gallon of gas is $3.67, according to the automotive group AAA in its Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

"Drivers can't seem to catch a break with gas prices rising nearly every day since February," AAA spokesman Avery Ash said. "[But] with any luck most of us will pay lower gas prices by the time everyone hits the road for Memorial Day."

The EIA said by September drivers should expect to pay about $3.46 a gallon.

Experts say a combination of increased production and the annual change to a summer gas blend is behind the expected drop.
