Supreme Court Rejects Tenn. Mosque Case
The U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal by Tennessee citizens seeking to block construction of a mosque in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
The group of neighbors have been trying to stop construction of the Islamic structure since 2010.
They said construction is illegal because the planning commission didn't give the public enough notice before a meeting to vote on the structure.
The Islamic Center of Murfreesboro started in 1982 and has about 1,000 attendants, including Middle Tennessee State University students.
"We'll celebrate together the fabric of our community. We are getting more diverse," ICM board member and MTSU professor Saleh Sbenaty said.
"It's in the Lord's hands now. We have done all we can do," prosecuting lawyer, Joe Brandon Jr. Said.
