Like many of you in parts of the southern and eastern United States, Evangelist Franklin Graham awoke this week to a blanket of snow from the latest winter storm. It's a change for some parts of these regions which don't normally get as much snow as other parts of the nation.
He shared the moment in a joyful picture on Facebook. Grinning from ear to ear and wearing his "Alaska beaver hat," the son of Evangelist Billy Graham took a snow selfie at his home in the mountains of North Carolina and said he loves the snow.
"I know the snow can cause hazards for travel, but there's nothing more beautiful and peaceful than a freshly fallen snow," Graham shared. "Everything here — the trees, the houses, the barns, the mountains— is covered with a clean layer of white."
He said the scene reminded him of Psalm 51, when "King David poured out his heart asking God's forgiveness after he had sinned with Bathsheba."
Graham went on to quote the psalm and the words of David:
"Have mercy upon me, O God,
According to Your lovingkindness;
According to the multitude of Your tender mercies,
Blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
And cleanse me from my sin.
For I acknowledge my transgressions,
And my sin is always before me.
Against You, You only, have I sinned,
And done this evil in Your sight.
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow."
