More Than 200 Girls Kidnapped from Nigerian School
Some 234 girls are missing from a Nigerian school attacked by Islamic extremists last week, much more than the 85 originally reported.
Parents said officials did not believe them when they reported their daughters missing.
The higher figure came out a week after the kidnappings when Borno state Gov. Kashim Shettima took a military escort with him to the town.
A number contradictory reports have surrounded the kidnappings. At one point, the military claimed almost all the abducted girls had been rescued, but then retracted the statement a day later.
Officials suspect the extremist group Boko Haram is responsible.
